Faith Evans Pleads No Contest to DUI

| Dec 9, 2010 | DUI |

On Monday, Faith Evans pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor DUI charges. The singer was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence last August at a DUI checkpoint in California. Her car was impounded and she was released the next morning.

According to KTLA, a superior court judge ordered Evans to serve three years on probation. During her probation, the judge said that Evans must not drive with any measurable amount of alcohol in her system. She must also pay a fine of $300 and other penalties and undergo a three-month alcohol program.

Faith Evans is the widow of the rapper Christopher Wallace, or The Notorious B.I.G., who was murdered in 1997. Evans won a Grammy for the song, “I’ll Be Missing You,” in 1998. The song was a tribute to Wallace. Her most recent R&B album is “Something about Faith,” which was released in 2010.

Evans has had other run-ins with law enforcement. In 2004, Evans was arrested in Atlanta with her husband Todd Russaw after a traffic stop. They both were charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine possession. After that conviction, she had to undergo an addiction treatment program that lasted thirteen weeks.
