Lindsay Lohan sentenced to jail for again violating probation

| May 12, 2011 | DUI |

Lindsay Lohan was sentenced on Wednesday to 120 days in jail for violating her probation after pleading no contest to the theft of a necklace. Lohan is still on probation related to arrests on suspicion of driving under the influence in 2007. Lohan’s attorney entered the no contest plea on her behalf, as Lohan was not in court. The plea does not include an admission of guilt, but it is a conviction.

Lohan has been in the news regularly as she struggles with possible addiction issues. The judge in the case said that she believes Lohan is not addicted to drugs and alcohol but self-medicating for other issues. Either way, it means she has issues with alcohol and drugs that she needs help for. Lohan was sent to a rehab facility last fall after she failed a drug test. She was accused of using alcohol while in rehab, and she took the necklace from the store three weeks after being released from rehab.

Lohan pleaded guilty to misdemeanor drug charges and no contest to three driving charges and was put on probation in 2007. That probation has since been extended because she has not successfully completed it.

Last summer, Lohan was sentenced to jail and drug and alcohol addiction treatment after she failed to complete her alcohol and drug education classes on time. Lohan only served a fraction of her sentence because of overcrowding in California prisons. As a nonviolent offender, she will likely only serve a small amount of the 120-day sentence this time, too. She reports to jail on June 17.
