Woman Accused of DUI in Intern’s Death Will Speak Thursday

| Jun 23, 2010 | DUI |

The funeral was held today in Augusta, Georgia for Jordan Griner, 24, an intern with Governor Perdue’s office who was killed in a car crash early Saturday. Atlanta police are still investigating the crash, but Christa Scott, 26, reportedly blew through a red light and crashed into Griner’s vehicle.

Scott was arrested at the scene and reportedly had a blood alcohol level of .229, almost triple the legal limit. Scott has been charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, DUI, and reckless driving. Scott was released on Monday night from Fulton County jail after posting $100,000 bond. It has been reported that she was driving after leaving work at Door 44, where she works as a waitress.

The accident happened at around 4am in the morning Saturday. Griner and his friends had been out celebrating the end of their 6-month fellowships with Governor Sonny Perdue’s Office. Griner had just finished dropping off friends at their homes as the evening’s designated driver and was only a few blocks from his apartment when the accident occurred.

Scott’s attorney has scheduled a news conference for Thursday afternoon. Scott and her mother and father will all issue statements about the tragic car crash. Their attorneys said the family wanted to wait until after Griner’s funeral to make any statements.
