Police say that the two-vehicle crash was caused by a 34-year-old Hall County man who failed to yield while allegedly driving under the influence. He has been charged with DUI and issued with a traffic citation. The accident occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on Athens Highway southeast of Gainesville.

Police in Georgia believe that a 30-year-old man was driving under the influence when he was involved in a two-vehicle crash that left a Savannah woman critically injured in the early morning hours of Sept. 22. The man has been charged with DUI, and he was transported to the Chatham County Detention Center after receiving medical treatment in Savannah. According to authorities, the incident was captured on the dashcam of a patrol vehicle of an officer with the Peachtree City Police Department who ultimately caught up with the driver and executed a traffic stop. Drivers under 21 subject to zero tolerance laws

Georgia residents might be aware that it is illegal for people under the age of 21 to operate a motor vehicle with even a trace of alcohol in their system. According to what is known as a zero tolerance law, drivers under the age of 21 may be detained on DUI charges if their blood alcohol content is .02 percent or greater. This is a significantly lower threshold than the legal limit for drivers 21 and over, which is .08 percent. In some cases, consuming a single glass of wine may be enough to reach a blood alcohol content level of .02 percent.
