Georgia man crashes SUV into yard, charged with DUI

A man who was injured in a rollover accident will face DUI charges. The 27-year-old Georgia man was allegedly traveling southbound at 12:50 a.m., on Sunday, Oct. 21, when he lost control of his SUV. It then entered a yard where it rolled over multiple times. Following the incident, police arrested the man and charged him with DUI.

The man's vehicle rolled over more than once before it came to a stop on its roof. The young man was extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel, and taken immediately to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. Fortunately, his injuries were not life threatening, and no one else was injured as a result of the accident.

In addition to DUI charges, the man has been charged for driving with a license that was suspended. As of Oct. 21, it is not known whether the man is still being treated at the hospital, or if he was later taken into custody by police. Typically, those accused of DUI are arrested and taken to jail, and they must post bond before being released.

Although this Georgia man will now face DUI charges in court, he is fortunate that no one else was injured in the accident. When other people are injured in an alleged DUI-related event, the potential punishments and consequences can be much more severe for the person convicted of the crime. As it stands, this man will be able to defend himself against the DUI allegations in court. He may even be eligible to get the DUI charge dropped or dismissed, depending on the unique facts of his case.
