Congressman’s son arrested 3 times in Athens for alcohol offenses

| Mar 25, 2013 | Underage Drinking |

Earlier this year on our Athens, Georgia, DUI defense law blog, we had mentioned that Athens-Clarke County Police reported that they had arrested U.S. Rep. John Barrow’s son for allegedly driving under the influence and possessing a small amount of marijuana. The 18-year-old has reportedly been arrested two more times here in Athens this month for alcohol-related offenses.

If the teen wasn’t already in enough trouble after his first arrest this year, the teen may certainly be facing some serious legal and social consequences now that he has been arrested three times in three months. Even though underage drinking offenses may seem minor, subsequent arrests for any type of criminal offense can be very damaging.

According to reports, the teen has been ordered to wear an ankle monitor after he was arrested for the third time this year. After the DUI arrest, the teen was arrested twice this month for alcohol-related offenses. The latest arrests both occurred last week. The teen was arrested for underage possession of alcohol on both occasions. One of the arrests occurred after the teen showed up to his mother’s work and allegedly caused a scene because he was intoxicated.

In addition to facing legal consequences for DUI and underage drinking, the congressman’s son may also be at risk of damaging his future academic and career opportunities. People make mistakes, and sometimes arrests are blown out of proportion, but after being arrested several times within a short period of time, folks will want to make sure they have an aggressive attorney on their side to protect their rights and to help them avoid paying for their mistakes for the rest of their lives.
