Obama's uncle arrested on suspicion of DUI

President Obama's uncle was recently arrested on suspicion of DUI. The 67-year-old is originally from Kenya. It is believed he was mentioned in Obama's book, "Dreams From My Father," as Uncle Omar. It has been reported that when the man was arrested he asked to make a call -- to the White House.

It is not known if he did make that call after the DUI arrest or if he would receive help from his nephew. As can happen if a person does not have their immigration paperwork up-to-date or is an undocumented alien, the man is now not only facing trouble for the DUI arrest, but is also facing possible deportation. He is currently being held on an immigration detainer. He will not be allowed to post bail.

Reportedly, the man rolled through a stop sign and almost into an unmarked police car. The law enforcement officer who was allegedly almost hit pulled the man over and questioned him. He noted that the man's eyes were red and glassy, and that he had slurred speech, was swaying or unsteady, and smelled of alcohol. The police officer also reported that the man was argumentative. His blood alcohol concentration was measured as 0.14 percent. This is higher than the 0.08 legal limit.

There are not a lot of details about the man or the arrest because no one wanted to talk to reporters. According to the Los Angeles Times, the White House was not going to comment on the case. The Times also called the bar where the man had reportedly been before driving, but they also were not commenting.
