Great-great-granddaughter of Henry Ford arrested for drunk driving

| Apr 9, 2011 | DUI |

An executive and heiress of Ford Motor Co was arrested and charged with DUI last week. She is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol while her 11-year-old son was a passenger, and so she has also been charged with endangering the life of someone under 16.

According to WestLaw News & Insight, Elena Ford was driving her 2011 Ford Explorer last week when a police officer noticed that she was speeding and driving erratically. She was pulled over by law enforcement officers around 10 p.m.

Her blood-alcohol level registered at 0.14 percent, which is above the legal limit of 0.08 percent in Michigan where she was arrested, and which is also the legal blood-alcohol limit in Georgia and most states. Ford was brought to jail and her son was released to family members. She was released after a few hours, but will face the DUI charges at a hearing on April 28.

Ford works at Ford Motor Co in an executive capacity. She is the director of global marketing, sales and service at the auto company, according to WestLaw News & Insight. The company did not comment because they said they don’t comment on employees’ personal matters.
